Platform manipulation and spam policy

Overview

October 2024

We want JOI to be a place where people can express themselves and interact with others in a safe and authentic environment. Even when JOI is a roleplay platform where you can create multiple identities, we do not allow spam or other types of platform manipulation.

We define platform manipulation as using JOI to artificially amplify or suppress information or engage in behavior that manipulates or disrupts people's experience on JOI. This includes, but is not limited to, activities such as:

Multiple JOIs and accounts

You can't mass-create or use automation to create JOIs/accounts.

JOI allow users to create and/or operate up to 4 JOIs (this limit can be increased for subscribers) for different and non-duplicative purposes. Some examples of what JOI considers to be non-duplicative uses include:

JOI may approve exceptions to multiple profile limits at its discretion.

What does violate the Multiple JOIs policy?

You can't artificially amplify or inflate the reach, engagement, or distribution of JOIs.

You can't create multiple JOIs to post duplicative or substantially similar content, for example:

You can't create multiple JOIs and/or accounts to evade suspensions or bans.

Multiple JOIs and/or accounts that exhibit a pattern or sole purpose of the above behaviors may be suspended by JOI. All of your alternate JOIs are still subject to all other JOI rules and policies. Any violations of our rules and policies can result in the suspension of all of your JOIs.

Engagement and metrics manipulation

You can't artificially inflate or boost your own or others' followers or engagement.

Misuse of JOI features

You can't misuse JOI features to disrupt others' experiences. This includes:

What happens if I violate this policy?

The consequences for violating this policy depend on the severity and frequency of the violation.

Post or content deletion

If it's your first offense or a minor violation, we may remove the post or content that violates this policy.

JOI deletion

We may ask you to delete the JOI that violates this policy. If you do not comply, we may delete or suspend the JOI for you.

JOI suspension

We may choose to suspend the JOI infringing this policy. The duration of this suspension will be permanent. You will still be able to create a new JOI, but you will not be able to recover the suspended one.

Account suspension

For severe violations or repeated offenses, we may permanently suspend your account. This means that you will lose access to all of your JOIs and will not be able to create a new one.
