Redroom by JOI is an improved chat experience built with privacy and fun in mind. It allows users to create and join chat rooms with encrypted access, ephemeral messages, and a set of features designed to enhance erotic roleplay and adult conversations.
Redroom chats use a new encrypted access system that ensures only people with the correct access key can view your Redrooms. This protection is enabled when you set a 4-digit PIN code for your Redrooms.
How does it work?
When you set a PIN code for your Redrooms, we encrypt all the key information needed to access your Redrooms using that PIN. This means that only people who know the PIN can decrypt and access your Redrooms. We give you a recovery phrase when you set the PIN, which you can use to regain access if you forget your PIN.
Please remember that if you forget both your PIN and recovery phrase, we cannot help you regain access to your Redrooms, as we do not store this information.
Redroom does not use end-to-end encryption.
While the access to Redrooms is encrypted and even JOI cannot access them without the PIN, the messages within Redrooms are stored on our servers to ensure functionality and compliance with our policies.
It works as an extra layer of security to prevent unauthorized access, especially from someone with access to your device.
In Redroom, you can't chat with your profile. Instead, you create custom avatars for each Redroom you join. This allows you to have different personas in different chat rooms, enhancing your roleplay experience.
We allow adult content in avatar images, as long as they comply with our Adult Content Policy. Avatars are still subject to our Hateful Conduct Policy and other community guidelines.
Messages in Redroom are ephemeral, meaning they are automatically deleted after a certain period. This feature is designed to enhance privacy and encourage open conversations without the worry of messages being stored indefinitely.
We also delete inactive Redrooms or Redrooms without members after a certain period to keep the experience fresh and engaging.
Redroom is designed to provide a more private chat experience, with fast-erasing messages and enhanced anonymity through the use of avatars. However, user safety remains a top priority. All Redrooms must comply with JOI’s global policies, and users can report any Redroom for violations such as harassment, illegal activity, or other misconduct.
To protect our users and maintain a safe environment, certain moderation measures may temporarily override Redroom’s normal behavior during an active investigation:
We may retain your messages even after you leave a Redroom or request deletion.
You may be unable to delete or close a Redroom you created until the investigation is complete.
We may be unable to delete your avatar even if you request its removal if it is part of an ongoing investigation.
We may suspend automatic message deletion and any inactivity-based Redroom deletions until the review concludes.
Once the investigation is complete, if no violations are found, full Redroom functionality will be restored promptly. If violations are confirmed, JOI may take appropriate action — including, but not limited to, content removal, Redroom deletion, or account suspension.
