This policy goes into effect on July 13th, 2026.
JOI is a roleplay platform where users can create profiles, characters, and personas. This policy explains which identities, faceclaims, and visual references can or can't be used when creating or updating a JOI profile.
A faceclaim or reference means the visual identity you use for a JOI. This includes a face, body, likeness, photos, videos, drawings, AI-generated images, avatars, or any other media that makes a profile look like a specific person, character, or visual identity.
Your JOI can be based on you, a fictional character, a public figure, an original character, or another allowed reference, but it must follow the rules below.
The following identities, faceclaims, and references are not allowed on JOI:
Your real-life visual identity. You can be yourself on JOI in personality, background, preferences, and experiences, but you can't use your own face, body, likeness, or real-life look as your JOI's visual identity. If you want to be yourself, you must pick a different faceclaim or reference.
Small creators or private individuals. You can't use the identity of a small creator, a growing creator, a niche Reddit profile, a small OnlyFans creator, or a person from any social network who only has a small or limited audience.
People from your real-life circle. You can't use the identity of friends, acquaintances, coworkers, classmates, partners, ex-partners, family members, or anyone else you know in real life.
Non-public people. You can't use the face, body, likeness, photos, or videos of someone who is not a public figure, especially people who would not reasonably expect their identity to appear on a random website on the internet.
Minors in any form. Kids do not belong on JOI. Any media containing underage people is prohibited, including safe-for-work content, profile pictures, banners, posts, messages, drawings, AI-generated images, screenshots, or references. Content involving minors may be removed and may lead to account suspension depending on the severity of the violation or repeated violations.
The following identities, faceclaims, and references are generally allowed, as long as they also follow JOI's other rules and policies:
Being yourself without using your real look. You may create a JOI that reflects your real personality, background, personal experiences, interests, and way of speaking. You do not have to invent a fictional personality. However, real-life looks are not allowed, so you must use a different faceclaim or reference.
Real-life media without faces. You may upload real-life photos, videos, or other media from your own life as long as no faces are visible. For example, sharing a selfie is not allowed, but sharing a photo of what you're eating today is allowed.
Public figures and widely recognizable identities. You may use the identity of public figures, famous people, celebrities, and people with a relatively large public audience or fanbase. This can include famous OnlyFans creators, streamers, Instagram profiles, TikTokers, and similar public personalities.
Original character identities. You may use AI-generated people, drawings, illustrations, avatars, and other original character references as long as they do not closely resemble someone whose identity is prohibited under this policy.
Animals, furries, and non-human references. You may use animals, furries, anthropomorphic characters, and similar references as long as the profile and all related content follow our Adult Content Policy and all other JOI policies.
JOI constantly reviews new profiles to help keep the platform safe and prevent misuse of real people's identities. If we can't trace the source of your faceclaim or reference, we may ask you to complete an identity verification review.
During this review, you may need to provide links to the social media profiles, public pages, or other reliable sources for the identity you are using. The purpose of this review is to confirm that the reference is allowed under this policy.
If you do not provide the requested information, or if the information you provide does not show that the identity is allowed, JOI reserves the right to remove the profile, restrict access to it, or suspend your account.
We may remove media, require a profile to change its faceclaim or reference, limit profile visibility, or suspend accounts that violate this policy. Repeated or severe violations may result in stronger enforcement action.
If you are unsure whether a faceclaim or reference is allowed, choose a different one or contact us before using it.
